The Wedding Video Production Process

The Planning of a Wedding Video

A £400 non-refundable fee is required payable via BACS transfer prior to any bookings made.  Once this is received, a date and time is agreed upon for a telephone consultation when the rough details of the day will be confirmed.  This of course may change over the many months before the wedding, so a follow-up call is made one month before the wedding to finalise the events of the day and to make payment of the £900 balance.

During this call, a detailed breakdown of the day’s events will be agreed upon, so I know where and when to be, so nothing is overlooked.  It’s useful at this point to nominate someone I can liaise with throughout the filming day - possibly the best man or maid of honour.

The Filming of a Wedding Video

I’ve been filming live events for over thirty years, and the one thing I’ve learnt is that nothing ever goes perfectly to plan - and this is not a problem.  I’m used to thinking on my feet and improvising as I go along, so relax in the knowledge that I will always be flexible throughout the filming day.  All I ask for is for someone to give me as much notification as possible if the plans do go awry, so I can reset and be ready to go.

Other than that, please enjoy your day knowing that I will not be making any unduly demands on anyone - it’s your day,  I’m merely there to record the events as they play out.

And by the way, I don’t need feeding.  I come complete with sandwiches and will be taking short food (fuel) breaks throughout the day when time permits.

The Editing of a Wedding Video

Editing is by far the most complex and creatively demanding part of the production process - and it takes time.  I try to include as many guests as possible in the final edit, but the stars of the finished film are you, so my focus will always be on you and your day.

I often use photographs in the final video, but this very much depends upon your photographer agreeing to supply me with images soon after the wedding day.  It will be useful to know this in advance of the editing.

With regards to music, the ‘Teaser Video’ will be edited to a royalty free track.  This means that you will be able to share it on YouTube and link from that to any other social media platforms without copyright issues.

The ‘Wedding Event Video’ will contain all the music recorded throughout the wedding day and much more!  Through a special license, I can use any track by any artist, so if you’re planning to walk down the aisle to Bruno Mars, “Marry You” or John Williams, “The Imperial March” (Darth Vader's Theme) we have permission to use it.  However, our fee covers up to 20 copies of the final video, so if you think you will require more, please let me know so I can provide you with a quote for this additional amount.  Please note that this license for the ‘Wedding Event Video’ does not allow it to be shared on social media, including YouTube or Vimeo - it’s for personal use only!

PLEASE NOTE: the prices on this website do not include a collaboration process.  I’ve been editing for over forty years, and rarely do I get asked to make any changes - even in my corporate videos.  To offer creative collaboration in the editing process will only make the process more time-consuming and therefore more expensive. If of course you’ve had a falling out with ‘Aunt Doris’ since the wedding (you didn’t like the cheap toaster she bought you) and you want her removed from the final video, I will of course do my best to tweak the video and leave her metaphorically lying on the cutting room floor ;-)
